In recent days, the Cabinet Council of the Republic of Panama approved Resolution No. 78-24, declaring the cable car project for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito to be of public interest. This project will be developed under an administrative concession system to improve connectivity in areas with topographical limitations that are not adequately covered by the Metro or Metrobus. Metro de Panamá, S.A. has been authorized to begin the studies and the process of selecting a concessionaire, with a four-month deadline to present the draft of the terms of reference and the project contract. Additionally, the Ministry of Economy and Finance may make budget adjustments to fund the preliminary studies.
